What's happening in Australia at present goes like this:

Australia the federation is made up of 7 states and territories.

My state (WA) is currently the fastest growing state in terms of population and economic growth, we are the mining capital of Australia and the powerhouse economy of the nation.
However we see very little benefit despite our contribution, and more money is continually taken from our state for the benefit of the Eastern states.

This Eastern states centrist attitude has always been, but the money isn't the only issue in fact that is the least concerning. What is more concerning are two massive new taxes going through parliament the carbon tax and the mining tax, both of which will hurt my state most of all.

Therefor i believe it is best for us to secede, (secession has been a reoccurring them in WA politics since federation) we were reluctant members to begin with, and the question is why should we remain members of a federation, that is of no benefit to us, and treats us unfairly.
